Remove the background
without losing quality.
The cutout runs in your browser and the PNG comes out at the same resolution as the photo you dropped in — no low-res preview, no lossy compression and no credits to unlock the full file.
Drag to erase or restore parts of the cutout. Scroll/gesture to pan while zoomed in.
Every pixel’s color comes from your original photo
When you download the cutout, Korpiss builds the PNG from your original photo, at its resolution: a 12-megapixel phone photo (4032×3024) comes back at the same 4032×3024 pixels. No thumbnail, no “free low-res version”.
The outline — what’s subject and what’s background — is worked out by the AI model on a scaled-down copy of the photo and then enlarged to full size. Background removal tools generally work this way, and it’s why very fine edges, like loose strands of hair, sometimes need a manual touch-up.
Photos above about 12.6 megapixels (48 or 50MP cameras) are scaled down proportionally on download. The reason is browser memory: your phone has to hold the whole image at once, and Safari on iPhone refuses images much larger than that.
The cutout is rarely the culprit
What keeps quality
- Starting from the original camera or phone file
- Downloading and keeping it as PNG, which doesn’t lose quality on save
- Fixing edges in manual edit instead of cutting it out again in another app
What ruins it
- Using a screenshot or a photo saved from social media, which is already compressed
- Sending it over WhatsApp as a photo, which shrinks it and converts it to JPG
- Enlarging a small photo: pixels that weren’t there don’t appear with a cutout
Hair, fur and glass without reprocessing
Brush
Erases or restores only where you paint — good for small leftovers near hair or shoulders.
Lasso
Draw around a whole area to erase or restore it at once, like a patch of background trapped between an arm and the body.
Magic wand
Grabs same-colored areas in one click or drag — handy for flat background left inside letters or between fingers.
Manual edits go into the full-resolution PNG too: they’re enlarged only where you made them, and everything else keeps the model’s original outline.

Your photo never leaves your device
Unlike tools that upload to a server, Korpiss processes the image locally, right in your own browser.
- ✓There's no server for your photo to land on — it simply never leaves your device
- ✓No account, no email, no form to fill out
- ✓Downloaded the model once? It works offline from then on
- ✓Everything runs right inside your browser, with nothing going to a server behind the scenes

Questions about cutout quality
Does a photo lose quality when the background is removed?
Not on Korpiss: the PNG comes out at the same resolution as the photo you dropped in, and PNG doesn’t lose quality on save. Only photos above about 12.6 megapixels are scaled down proportionally.
Why is my photo smaller after downloading?
It was over about 12.6 megapixels — common with 48 or 50MP cameras. In that case the PNG is scaled down proportionally to fit in the browser’s memory, especially on phones.
How do I get a better cutout on hair and fur?
Use a photo with contrast between the person or pet and the background, lit from the front. If background is left between strands, open manual edit and use a small brush to erase or restore just that spot.
PNG or JPG: which keeps more quality?
PNG. It doesn’t lose quality on save and keeps transparency; JPG compresses with loss every time it’s saved and has no transparency. If you need a JPG later, convert once, from the PNG.
Does Korpiss increase the photo’s resolution?
No. It removes the background and keeps the resolution the photo already had — it doesn’t invent pixels. To increase resolution you need a separate upscaling tool.
