Transparent background PNG,
in seconds.
Drop an image in and Korpiss removes the background with AI, right in your browser. You download a PNG with real transparency — ready to place over any color, photo or slide.
Drag to erase or restore parts of the cutout. Scroll/gesture to pan while zoomed in.
Transparency is an extra channel, not a background color
Every digital image stores red, green and blue for each pixel. A transparent PNG also stores a fourth value, the alpha channel, which says how visible each pixel is — from fully solid to fully invisible, with every shade in between. That in-between is what keeps hair or fur edges soft instead of jagged.
That’s why the gray-and-white checkerboard behind a cutout isn’t part of the image: it’s just how editors and viewers show “nothing here”.
PNG keeps transparency
- The alpha channel travels with the file, pixel by pixel
- Saving again as PNG doesn’t lose quality
- It’s the format Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides, Photoshop and online stores expect for a cutout
JPG doesn’t
- JPG has no alpha channel — “transparent” turns white or black on save
- Every time a JPG is saved again, it loses a bit of quality
- If a site or app converts your PNG to JPG, the transparency is gone right there
How to make an image background transparent
Drop in the image
Drag a photo or image (JPG, PNG or WEBP, up to 50MB) onto the tool, or click to pick one from your computer or phone gallery.
Remove the background
Hit Remove background. An AI model runs in your browser and separates the subject from the background — the image is never sent to a server.
Download the PNG
With the background set to Transparent (the default), hit Download PNG. If a bit of background is left, fix it first in manual edit with the brush, lasso or magic wand.
What an image with no background is good for
Slides and designs
In Canva, PowerPoint or Google Slides, the cutout sits on top of any color or photo, with no white box cutting through the layout.
Online store
Product photos with no background make a catalog look consistent. See how to remove the background from product photos.
Logo and brand
A logo with a transparent background works on your site, email signature and store profile. See the logo background remover.
Sending the PNG over WhatsApp as a photo converts it, and the transparency is lost. To keep it, send it as a document instead.

Questions about transparent backgrounds
How do I make an image background transparent?
Drop the image into Korpiss, hit Remove background and download the PNG. The background is transparent by default, and everything runs in your browser — no sign-up, no payment.
Why does my transparent PNG show a white or black background?
It’s almost always where the image was opened or sent: some viewers display transparency as white or black, and apps like WhatsApp convert photos to JPG, which can’t keep transparency. Open the file in an editor like Canva or Photoshop to check, and send it as a document when you need to keep it transparent.
Does a transparent PNG lose quality?
No. PNG is lossless, and the download comes out at the same resolution as the image you dropped in — only photos above about 12.6 megapixels are scaled down proportionally, to fit in the browser’s memory.
Can I pick a colored background instead of transparent?
Yes. After the cutout, choose White or Color in the background option and download — the PNG comes out with the new background applied.
Does it work on my phone?
It does. Open korpiss.com in your phone’s browser, pick the image from your gallery and download the PNG — no app to install.
